Team VX 2012 had a lot to live up to after Team VX 2011 and driver Jimmy White had lifted the class victory, clinching the title at a last round showdown. Whilst it is exciting leaving it to the last minute and great for the crowds when the championship hangs in the balance and isn?t decided till the chequered waves the final over, it is stress the driver and team could well do without. We could only hope 2012 would be less stressful. The highlight of a Winter spent furiously building another Time Attack VX220 had to be fitting the engine one Sunday morning, outside, with two feet of snow on the ground and temps a spanner freezing minus 12 degrees C; oh how we wish we had a proper workshop, with power and lighting. Despite the weather and lack of facilities, we managed to get a car prepped, stickered up and delivered for the first round. Cadwell Park was the venue and Mike took first place in qualifying which was a dream start to the season but come the final he was pipped at the post by a mere 10th of a second by Ronnie Amis in the mighty Sierra Cosworth, thus staring a fierce rivalry and friendship that was to rage on all season between both drivers and teams. We went into the second round tied for the points lead in class however Knockhill, being a circuit that was unfamiliar to car and driver was a round of second places whilst the Cosworth enjoyed a clean sweep taking pole by 0.2 seconds and 0.9 seconds in the final and we left Scotland 20 points adrift of the lead. Having competed as a one hit wonder in 2011 at Brands Hatch, Mike and the team arrived at Brands with a mixture of confidence from the win last season and trepidation as this is Ronnie?s home track and he would be gunning for revenge. It just wasn?t to be for Team VX when yet again the Ford won both the qualifying session and the final by some margin. We needed a head scratch; the Cossie had won the first three rounds, the last two with a clean sweep and some serious focus was needed if we were to turn the season around as only four rounds remained; a double header at Anglesey with the two final rounds, a double header at Snetterton and we were now 40 points behind Ronnie. Serious focus came in the shape of a rethink and reset of chassis geometry where the boys at Back on Track worked wonders and a little remap by Courtenay Sport who made the very best of the borrowed Harrop supercharger (Weapon X) and bought the power up from 286BHP to 333BHP; it was time to get serious. Anglesey is a circuit that suited the little VX220 and qualifying went well, winning top points by over two seconds but a disastrous mechanical gremlin put Mike out of the final before he could complete a single flying lap handing the Sierra an easy win. I was looking like the championship was already decided with our points tally at 450 and Ronnie on 580. Not to be downhearted Mike bounced back the following day with a win in both qualifying and final and with the Cossie struggling, only taking two thirds and after taking dropped rounds into account we went into the final weekend just 30 points adrift. It was still game on going into the final two rounds but Snetterton is a track that suits the bigger powered cars with its two long straights and the VX being the lowest powered car in class it would be a big ask of car, driver and team. Saturday was a dream with a first in qualifying and a first in the final and with the Cossie suffering mechanical gremlins it saw the team turn a 30 point deficit into a 10 point lead going into Sunday?s showdown. Qualifying was the wettest of the wet which was not made any easier when one competitor sprayed oil all over the track but despite a scary off on the main straight at over 95 MPH and a red flagged session, top points was secured by quite a margin and with just the final to go the gap was 20 points in the VX?s favour. It was all coming down to the last session of the last round again with all to win or lose in the final. Ronnie had to win and rely on the VX coming third which would tie the points but give the Sierra driver the title on countback. In the end it was only 3 thousandths of a second that separated the Cossie from the VX in the final with Mike taking maximum points setting the winning time on his last flying lap having spent the entire session in third, talk about last minute. So that was it, Team VX had done it in the last session of the last round again and Mike was crowned Time Attack Champion Club RWD 2012 by just 30 points. Huge thanks go to the team: Chris, George, Matty, Joe, Jimmy, Nigel and Lee as without you guys we would not even have got to Cadwell. Thanks to my sponsors; Space Innovation, Field Service and Stingray RV as without your confidence and cash the season would have been a non-starter. Thanks to all my technical sponsors: Gaz Shocks, SuperPro, Autoglym, Forge Motorsport, TPI (SixOneTwo), Lucas Oils, EJM Preparation, Pipercross, EMP Performance and Mango Motorsport; I hope I have proved your parts make winning cars.
Hi EMP, just a quick email to say thank you for your very professional service. The exhaust looks really smart and has just the note I wanted. Also noticed the car picks up a bit quicker too. If anyone asks about the system I will point them your way without any hesitation. regards Richard

Hi Eldin, Now back in the office after driving the 80 miles home. The exhaust is perfect, still a good V8 sound but without any inside vibration. Thanks for your help again. If anyone requires a reference of your service, I will be pleased to provide. Without doubt, your quality of workmanship and materials is first class. This connected to your friendly, relaxed and informative style puts a customer at ease to discuss whatever mods. As a customer we are made to feel involved rather than other company's styles of "leave it to me, I know best"!. I wish your and Simon's business well, any business is only as good as its people; inwhich case EMP should do well. Regards, Steven.

Eldin and his team at EMP did a fantastic job on building and fitting a stainless quad system on my Merc. It looks and sound superb. All this... and they kept me going in coffee and allowed me to watch it being built and fitted. My thanks to all.
Eldin Thank you and your team at EMP Performance for the fantastic work that you carried out on my C240 V6 Mercedes. You fitted me into your schedule at a moments notice. Built and fitted a fantastic quad tail pipe and silencer exhaust system in 3 hours. All this at the price quoted on the phone. You also saved me money by pointing out that the cat I had been told needed replacing was in fact a loose bolt rattling on the cat. I would recommend you to anybody who is looking for top quality workmanship. Many thanks again. Bruce
Hi I just would like let you know my car runing brilliant. I checked on VAG-COM, no any errors. I have to say a big thanks. Good job guys. I will be highly recommending you to everyone i know & anyone who asks. Regards Mariusz
